Vision

A/Rbnb is a feature integration of AR and VR functionalities into the existing Airbnb mobile application. These features consist of a virtual tour and interactive house manual for a more immersive and informative experience for guests.

Challenges

  • Integrate AR and VR functionalities to improve guest experience.

  • Create an immersive experience that helps guests make an informed decision before booking.

  • Construct an intuitive onboarding process for AR and VR tools.

36%

of Airbnb guests are millennials (25-34 y/o), which influences the adoption of AR/VR integrated features

User Interviews

I conducted 10 user interviews with the objective to learn more about user's experience with Airbnb in the past, good or bad. These user interviews were also critical in learning about how much knowledge users had about AR and VR technology.

Can you tell me about your last Airbnb experience?

Share an experience you had using AR/VR technology.

What are some factors that help you decide on an Airbnb?

What factors into making a trip successful for you?

How do you see AR/VR technology benefitting travel?

Walk me through your process of booking accommodation for a trip.

The Problem

Airbnb guests need a better way to gather accurate information about a listing, its amenities, and location because they want to make an informed decision to ensure what they see online matches what they’ll experience in person.

Meet The Users

The Solution

VR Tour

AR House Manual

Preparing the Journey

I constructed a user flow of what a basic start to finish journey looks like for using the VR tour and the AR House Manual. This helps us in understanding how guests interact with the product, as well as allowing us to see navigation through user goals.
